Recuerda con claridad la primera vez que el primer pétalo salió escupido de su garganta, la sensación de la tos desgarrándole la tráquea para dar paso a algo. Un objeto, hasta ese momento desconocido. Se abrió paso sin permiso entre su laringe, faringe, lengua y labios, hasta caer sobre el escritorio, entre un charco de saliva y pequeñas gotas de sangre fruto del esfuerzo.
Aquella primera vez, Dazai observó atónito el pétalo: amarillo brillante, pese a lo húmedo de sus fluidos, burlándose de él al contrastar con las hojas blancas que habían caído sobre el escritorio de madera cuando se inclinó para toser.
Un pétalo de girasol.
Que emergió de su interior justo cuando pensaba en alguien en particular.
