“I.. Uh, thought that after that… Experience… We’d be on first-name basis”, Ashley was rarely left speechless nowdays but there she was, gawking at the man who had saved her life like she had never met a stranger in the dog park before. “Mr. Kennedy.”
“Wasn’t sure if you’d remember me”, his eyes met hers again as he finally spoke.
They stood in silence for a fleeting while, until Leon shifted his weight again and his composition eased up a little before he revealed an almost playful smile to her: “Didn’t want to upset a senator. It never looks good on the records.”
“Well, lucky for you, I’m not upset that easily”, she countered his smile while tucking away a strand of hair that had fallen out of place earlier when she had tried to shake the memories away.
