He could hear the pounding footsteps growing closer and closer behind him, but Jimin could not discern whether they were truly footsteps or his heart beating against the walls of his chest. At this rate, it wouldn’t matter. Either his heart or his legs would give out soon, and it would all end. Hadn’t it already? Everything he had held dear until that very moment had been viciously ripped from his grasp, torn apart like carion in the beaks of crows. And he had left it all behind. They would never come back. They were gone.

Summary
The city-dome is all that Park Jimin has ever known. He lives as a disappointment to his family, and tries to make the most of what he has. It all changes when he and his best friend Hoseok are attacked by a creature that no one has ever seen before, turning both of their lives upside down.
Thrust into the world of beasts and tamers, they are tasked to fight the creatures. But not everything in the academy is what it seems. Perhaps it's the heavy surveillance and constant medical checkups. Maybe it's the monsters that act nothing like what the textbooks say they should.
All that he knows is that he's never felt as safe as when he's with a certain beast, one whose eyes glow blue like lightning whenever he sees Jimin.

Summary
Jungkook understands. He understands that no one in this house must treat Jimin like a human being. He knows that Jimin is as beautiful as he is dangerous, a priceless gem that others are tempted to steal and touch and have their way with. That Namjoon's words are as much of an order as they are a threat, that if Jungkook is to betray his trust his fate will be worse than his hands removed and being left to bleed out.
That Jimin must be so unbearably alone, in desperate need of someone who will treat him like he's a person. A person with autonomy and feelings and worth more than just a thing to be owned.
That the conversation Jungkook and Jimin had last night probably was the only glimmer of light in Jimin's otherwise dark, dark world. A dream they both reached for in a cracked desert when it was just a mirage. The only semblance of a normal life when he had no room left to hope and dream for something else. A memory to hold onto when there's nothing left to grasp.
Like how it was for Jungkook.
