Summary
“I speak of truth,” Rhaenyra let him stew for a moment, searching for a way out of the corner she has backed him into, before speaking again, “I do not blame you, necessarily. It is natural, I think. To want for power, especially when by birth, you would be afforded none. You and I are the same in this regard, my Lord.”
She turned to him now, and she has his full attention his eyes full of greed, understanding, and perhaps some sort of newfound respect, “You are so close you can almost taste it, isn’t that right, my Lord?”
He granted her the slightest of nods.
She hummed lightly, “You and I are the same. Neither of us intends to give up the power we have been granted despite the circumstances of our births. We will both fight to the bloody end, for we have had our desires dangled before us like a scrap of meat in front of starving dogs, and we will not yield. Will we, Lord Hand?”Rhaenyra is a bit smarter and begins scheming earlier. The first chapter takes place after Rhaenyra ends her tour early and Daemon returns from the Stepstones. Some characters are probably a little OOC to fit the premise of the fic. Rhaenyra marries Otto in her first big political move. They still don't like each other though.
