    The lights were low in Shadow’s room, dark enough that the corners of the room were murky. Small, mismatched lamps were placed wherever there was a spare electric outlet. Purplish-bluish-orangeish light was cast all across the walls. There was no overhead light on, just the way Sonic knew Shadow liked it.

    In fact, Sonic had learned about a lot of what Shadow likes with each night they shared together in the past few months. The running mental list he carried currently included these tidbits:
    1. Shadow doesn’t like any harsh lighting.
    2. Shadow does like an insane amount of comforters on his bed.
    3. Shadow doesn’t talk much during sex unless they’ve fought beforehand.
    4. Shadow gets easily flustered by Sonic’s stupid remarks when they fuck.
    5. After they’ve finished, when he thinks Sonic’s fallen asleep, Shadow likes to circle his thumb along the pads of Sonic’s fingers.

    And the newest one as of tonight:
    6. Shadow is a jealous motherfucker.
