Summary
You know how sometimes when you're an adult you go back and read YA books you read as a kid, and find that the relatable preteen heroes aren't the relatable ones anymore? And one of the cool actually-young-adult, as in mid-twenties, characters is in a coma for six years, and comes out of it, and his first words to another mid-twenties character are pure vitriol with no given explanation? Because somehow, despite being in a coma, he too knew she had betrayed the side of good? And then there's a throwaway line three books later, as the author's trying to Pair the Spares for the finale, that leaves you wondering what the hell happened to these characters six or seven years ago, before the coma?
This is the result of that.
