“What the fuck is that?” he manages, though the answer is pretty fucking clear.
Hawks looks down and his face lights up, as if he’s just now remembering his passenger. “Oh! She is a baby. Surely you’ve seen one before.”
He bounces a bit on the tips of his toes and the baby giggles, delightedly kicking out her arms and legs. Hawks smiles, a hand coming up protectively around her front, as if she’s going to slip out of the thing, despite the fact that she’s strapped in there tighter than a mental patient in a straitjacket.

Dabi had made peace with his impending death. Or so he thought, before the past comes crashing into his hospital room with a passenger in tow and the promise of a fresh start.

Keigo said it was the eeriness of the situation getting to him. Tenko said he was going to die.
Touya was still holding onto the fact that he’d looked much scarier monsters in the eye.
Or: Touya desperately needs a job, Keigo wants to make him happy, and they end up trapped in an office surrounded by murderous animatronics.

Summary
When Dabi realized that he was in the past and had to continue to function as a human being without burning down everything around him, it had been suffocating. Finding Hawks had made the air breathable again, a clean breath of familiarity and, somehow, comfort.
Trapped in the past with only each other as allies, he has no choice but to rely on Hawks, just as Hawks finds himself relying on Dabi.
OR: Dabi and Hawks are sent ten years in the past: feelings are turned inside out, traumas are resurfaced, and they eat fried chicken.
