Castiel Novak, eldest son of Zachariah and Naomi Novak, maintains the large, ancestral estate, Tor-Valen. He is far more interested in his bees and providing for his servants than tying himself down with an omega. But, his parents insist. To comply, Castiel sends his butler, Meg, to specifically buy Dean. Because, everyone in town knows Dean Winchester isn't some cowering, conniving omega.

Summary
Dean's been on his own for as long as he can remember, fending for himself and struggling through heats alone. The last thing he wants after his tumultuous past is an Alpha, but the heats are getting worse and the winter is particularly brutal. There are rumors of an Omega camp run by a mysterious and uncharacteristically kind Alpha, and Dean finds himself drawn to the scent of Castiel, who welcomes him into the camp with open arms.
Dean remains wary of the Alpha despite his seemingly calm nature, but he becomes increasingly interested in the enigmatic Castiel. Together they help each other overcome events of the past and attempt to live and love again in an unforgiving and broken world.

Summary
Dean's life is finally changing. After years of enduring Alastair's abuse, the alpha dies and Dean's married off to the next alpha the system pairs him with - Castiel. The man is strange and distant, but not exactly bad, and Dean's determined to be on his best behavior and not mess up the chance he was given. Soon enough, though, he fucks up anyway and has to call the alpha for help.
Castiel's lived his entire life without an omega by his side, and he was fine with that. He doesn't know how to proceed once he's suddenly married to a beautiful man who's obviously been through a lot. Omegas were always a confusing subject to him, so he tries not to interfere much - neither of them is there by their choice. But when Dean calls for help, he understands he's going to have to set some things straight and engage more.

Castiel doesn’t know where the runaway in Dean has gone, but he’s not sure that man exists anymore. The omega in his backseat has been badly broken. He hasn’t said a word to Castiel; hasn’t protested aside from flinching, hasn’t even pleaded to be spared. He’s just… empty. Tired. I'm new to all things Omegaverse, but beyond that aspect this piece is very much my kind of fanfic anyway - the kind I call "hothouse fic" when I write it myself, with two characters and their pairing potential and their basic conflicts stuck in a difficult situation together, no easy answers, with limited outside contact, dragging each other into emotive feedback loops of feels and fails and self-discoveries. All that is only heightened by the alpha/omega dynamic.
I've loved reading this AU of the Supernatural characters, from Dean and Cas at the centre of it to the brief appearances like Meg and Claire. They all pop off the page, fully alive - different and yet recognisable. Vivid. As a writer who's completely incapable of pulling that off in an AU setting, without canon motivation propping me up like a crutch, I have a lot of respect for a writer who does it so well.
Balthazar in particular comes so alive in this AU that he gets his own prequel, called 'Heretic Pride' - can't wait to read that!
