He angled his gun towards the big deer walking through the snow, its hooves making imprints as it walked. Suddenly, it bolted away, startled. Singed poked his head up and looked around, catching what seemed to have startled his dinner.
A child— a boy probably no older than eleven— was frantically running through the woods, tears streaming down his face. He wasn’t dressed for winter in the slightest, wearing a raggedy old t-shirt with some arm warmers and a pair of ripped jeans. No shoes or socks.
He also had a knife sticking out of the back of his knee.
