Summary
Dean is running out of time to find a cure for the Mark of Cain. When he crosses a line, he has to take matters into his own hands. In a final act of goodness while he still has some left, Dean turns the First Blade on himself.
But it doesn't kill him. Not completely. He wakes up with black eyes and the weight of the world lifted from his shoulders. Now living in perfect synchrony with the Mark, it turns out becoming a demon was the only cure he needed.
Sam and Castiel, both falling apart in their own ways, will do everything they can to put Dean's pieces back together. Even if the cost is something none of them can come back from.

Long, plotty, epic journey fic, designed to leave every character with the happiest possible ending I can think of… buuut only well after each of them have reached their respective breaking points. In other words, angst with a happy ending.
