What he didn’t expect was to become instantly enamored by the ink covered, near silent, tattoo artist at the parlor. What had initially been a plan to get only one tattoo turned into getting some piercings as well. Then coming back for a second. Maybe a third. Soon Hermes is sitting in Charon’s chair for hours long sessions to cover his back and his arms with sleeves of birds and flowers.

Lonato’s All Night Diner sat smack dab in the middle of a lonely stretch of highway. It wasn’t an attraction, it wasn’t a favorite restaurant, it was food for travellers who were half way into the desert and still had a long way to go. The Gaspard garage and gas station was attached to the diner’s hip, a run down lonely motel just within view. An oasis for truck drivers, travellers, and little families who got very lost.
A lonely place for lonely people.

The occasional waterfall here and there. Whatever twists and turns Styx had in store for Charon he endured with the same practised ease as breathing.
Despite being the ferryman to the dead, with his rules and rigidity, Charon was flexible. Fluid and adaptable like the river he traveled down. Having undergone numerous changes in leadership and the overhaul structure of the underworld itself, still Charon stood as permanent of a fixture as life and death.
There was little difference that would change Charon's overall nature.
