Summary
Tony Stark was known for his quick wit. The press never caught him without a response even when they bombarded lunches with Rhodey, used interview questions Pepper rejected or drove a van right into the middle of a supervillain attack just to get their next story.
So why was he having such a hard time talking to his intern?
Or, Tony realizes he loves Peter just as the teen goes missing. Peter discovers yet more spider-abilities that are bound to stress out his not-dad.

Summary
Tony knew a thing or two about Peter Parker. He knew the kid liked chemistry more than math classes but enjoyed physics problems more than balancing chemical equations. He knew he liked to get a sandwich before patrolling after school. He knew he liked to walk on the side of the sidewalk closest to the street when walking with anyone. He knew he liked pineapple on pizza but hated when people added sun dried tomatoes. Mainly, Tony knew Peter Parker never stopped talking.
Tony first noticed it when he recruited the teen in his living room, making the kid stumble over his unending stream of words. He noticed it again when Peter started coming to the lab after school, whispering equations and theories to himself until the older man told him to speak up. He saw it in fights, when Spider-Man’s quips were almost as much of a defense as the suit Tony designed to keep the teen safe.
Tony held this truth to be absolute - if Peter Parker was talking, he was ok.
So why hadn’t Peter said a word?
Or: Peter won't use his words and gives tony a heart attack for 2k words

Summary
The kid’s acting weird.
Ever since Tony started spending time with Queens’ own teenage vigilante, he had to redefine what the term “acting weird”. Leaving chemistry homework next to classified SI blueprints? Completely normal. Forgetting to eat lunch and downing more pizza pockets than Tony’d ever seen? Typical Friday afternoon. Showing up in the middle of the night with a knife wedged in his side? Not great, but more average than not.
Leaving broken handheld digital pets on top of the penthouse coffee maker? Not so normal. Tony frowned, picking up the hot pink Tamagotchi. The right button was missing and the screen possessed a nasty looking crack. The printed flowers on the case were worn and faded.
Or: Peter's leaving trinkets all over the Tower and it's stressing his mentor-not-dad out. Why won't the kid just tell Tony what he wants?

Summary
From the minute Tony changed his flight path to intercept the laser aimed at Natasha he knew the hit wouldn’t be one he could just walk off. He heard, more than felt, the impact of the hit as he came between it and the intended target, launching him backwards into the side of the warehouse.
Or: Tony gets hurt on a mission, Peter goes a little too spider-y in response. Where are the Avengers supposed to find a scared spider-teen and his mentor?

Summary
Long ago, the gods became jealous of humans. Their rage split man's soul in two, cursing them to roam the Earth searching for their other half. The gods' fury couldn't erase all evidence of the souls time together - words printed on the wrist and over the heart - memorializing the first words spoken by one's other half and the first words spoken once the souls truly learn to love each other again. It's the stuff of legend and poets wet dreams. Some find comfort in it, some don't buy in.
Or: Tony's known he's going to care for his soulmate from the moment his words appeared on his skin. Peter's hated his soulmate for over a decade. Too bad fate doesn't care about what they want.
