His assailant leaps at him while he's distracted. Izuku shoves him on instinct, and the stranger shrieks when he hits the ground. He tries to roll over. There’s a vegetable knife sticking out of his back.
“Fuck,” says Izuku. “Fuck, oh god, I killed someone.”
(Izuku does have a quirk - it's the power to see when someone has unhealthy attachment issues and obsessive tendencies. That would explain why some of his classmates seem a little off.
Except Kacchan, probably. Kacchan's always been dangerous.)

Chapter 2&3 summary: There's little Jet wouldn't do to protect Zuko when it really came down to it. Including protecting Zuko from their present company and fighting said company and Sokka's father.
ALTERNATIVE SUMMARY [all chapters]: Jet and Zuko have incredibly strange definitions of normal friendly relations and everyone collectively thinks to themselves "what are they doing…"
