The last thing Ethan remembers was watching Chris carry his daughter to safety before pressing the trigger and ending the megamycete once and for all.
The mold has different plans, however, and just as his hearing finally fades to nothing he opens his eyes once more to a crashed vehicle with a ringing phone and biting cold air hitting him in the face.
The nightmare continues, the father's story has just begun.

Summary
One year after the Baker house, things have finally been looking up. When Ethan returns from a conference in Romania his driver suggests taking a short cut to escape the oncoming traffic jam, the car crashes, the driver gets eaten and Ethan's day just got a hell of a lot worse.
