"I'm going to prove it," Mike said. His knees were trembling, his pulse thundering like a drum in his ears, but he forced his chin up. His voice shook as he spoke, yet he refused to back down. "If you're really just normal Will Byers, then you'll just have to watch me fall. But if you're Spider-Man... you'll save me."
Will's face completely crumbled. The color drained from his skin, leaving him deathly pale.
Or, Mike finds out that Will is Spider-Man. He confronts Will about it, but Will denies everything. Mike, being reckless, decides to jump off a building to see if Will will save him.

"Mike," Will breathed, the name barely escaping his lips.
Mike wanted to speak. He had a thousand things he wanted to say—I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, please don't hate me, I missed you so much—but his throat was completely dry. No sound came out.
Or, after the final battle, Mike falls into a depression and locks himself in his room. Will comes by every day, but Mike won't let him in. After two months, Mike finally opens the door.
