“You really have to ask why?” Noé said, tilting his head upwards to look at the raven haired man.
Then Vanitas was at a loss for words because no, he didn’t need to ask. The answer was obvious, always had been obvious, he had just been too stubborn and blind to see it. Noé didn’t treat anyone the way that he treated Vanitas and Vanitas didn’t treat anyone the way he treated Noé.
Do love confessions come just before people die? Is it better to say it now than swallow it down? Why would Noé even love such a tarnished piece of garbage like himself?
OR: Vanitas finds Noé dying after taking a fatal blow for him during a battle with malnomen. He tries to save him and they realize they're in love.

In this world, everyone is born colorblind. It wasn't until you met your soulmate that you started seeing in color.
Of course, it wasn't as simple as "Hi, nice to meet you– oh I can see colors now." The universe wasn't nice enough to hand out freebies like that. You had to spend time with your soulmate and get to know them before colors would appear. You could know your soulmate for years and not even know it because you haven't had that once crucial moment with them. That aspect of it was both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, people lucky enough to briefly encounter their soulmate on the street randomly wouldn't have to spend forever searching for that person again. However, on the other hand, the wait could be agonizing for some people.
