"I knew I was a man who had narrowly avoided disaster. I did not have all the answers yet as to what would happen now, but I would find them. I would do whatever needed to be done, so long as it ensured that he would not vanish from my life. Selfishly, I did not care what effects we might have on the world. What mattered was the effect he had on me. And while I was not entirely ready to confront that, there would be time enough for all of it.
