    Finally, Zoey blurted it out, voice soft but sharp:

    “Have you ever thought of… something besides monogamy?”

    Mira’s thumb stilled on the screen. She looked up, slow. “…What?”

    Zoey’s hands twisted in her lap. “Like—not open relationships. Just… not just one person. Have you ever thought about being with more than one person and it still being okay?”

    She wasn’t looking at Mira. Her voice was tight, like it hurt to speak. Mira watched her with a furrowed brow, still quiet.

    “I feel so guilty all the time. Because I love you, Mira. I love you, and this doesn’t change that, but I see her and I want to make her smile and I want her to hold my hand and I think she’s beautiful and weird and sweet and I—”

    She finally looked up, tears shining in her eyes.

    “I think I ruined us. And I’m so sorry.”

    Mira just stared at her. Wide-eyed. Silent.

    Zoey’s heart dropped. “Say something.”

    Mira exhaled like she’d been holding her breath for a month.

    Then she visibly deflated—shoulders dropping, head tilting back against the wall—and let out a quiet, choked laugh.

    “…Oh thank god.”

    Enid accidentally summons a malevolent spirit in an attempt to communicate with her wolf, and somehow – that is not Wednesday’s biggest problem upon the return to Nevermore. With a raging suspicion that Principal Weems was not actually murdered and decades-old conspiracies about Outcasts beginning to come to light, Wednesday starts to unravel her latest mystery while trying not to come undone herself. As emerging powers cause her to manifest physical symptoms, Wednesday has to learn to rely on those around her if she is going to grow as a Raven.

    Wednesday-centric, ultra slow-burn Wenclair, moving forward in an organic relationship, building from roommates to best friends to more. Picking up on plot points from S1 with some canon divergence, Wednesday develops not only new abilities, but emotions and friendships as she examines her life through her new lens of Nevermore.

    To future me: Read this again if you forgot about it. You won’t regret it, trust

    Genuinely my favorite fanfic of all time (in the sense that I read it in 21 days). Helped me out through a really rough time and actually taught me a lot about my own negative coping mechanisms and how to navigate certain situations. Like I actually got motivation and hope in my life when reading this. Even better than that, the writing is intriguing, in-character, and grammatically correct. The plot is perfectly fleshed out and pulls you into the story in the most beautiful way (I may have cried). Everything about it is just delightful and handles each heavy situation perfectly and with a more delicate and realistic manner. Absolutely loved. 1000/10 WILL read again (#comfortfic #sobbing #I’m actually so grateful for this)
