“Just… don’t cut them off.” Chloe whispered at last, “Don’t hurt yourself. Please, Lucifer.”
“I can’t.” He shook his head, “Detective, you don’t understand. They’re not a part of me anymore.”
“They’re still… connected to you. You’ll still bleed if you cut them off. It will still hurt."
“What’s a little pain to someone like the devil, Detective?”
He was smiling, almost as though that last statement was meant to reassure her.
“It wasn’t a little pain.” She argued, “I was afraid you were going to die!”
“No one asked you to be!” Lucifer fired back, “No one asked you to care for me or to… to love me! If you knew what was good for you, Detective, you’d leave me and you’d never look back.”
“Is that what you really think?”
At his small nod, Chloe felt something break inside of her.

Summary
This is my take on the idea of a Varian spin-off series of Tangled: The Series/Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure.
The au was presented to Disney by storyboarders Kay Ritter and Anna Lencioni who took a liking to Varian's character and decided to create a story for him in his later years; detailing the adventures he might go on and the friends he makes along the way.
I'll likely take a lot of inspiration from other fans too and I think that's what's great about vat7k, we all inspire each other with our ideas! :)
This is probably gonna be a long one, hope you enjoy!!
