    Happy MerMay 2024 everybody! Enjoy some extremely self-indulgent merman!Tanjiro. Also, in this fic merpeople are referred to as “water spirits” because I felt that just fit better with the Demon Slayer Universe.

    200 years ago one of Tanjiro’s ancestors and the water spirit of the mountain lake where his family resided fell madly in love. As the generations went on the blood of the water spirit dwindled as the Kamado family line went on and the story of the water spirit passed on to legend. But the blood of the water spirit was never truly gone, and centuries later it manifested in one Tanjiro Kamado.
