“I’m glad you’re alive, Kiryu. I truly am. And it’s been just wonderful to see ya,” Majima hissed, “But I don’t keep company with people who’d rather I thought they were dead.”
Kiryu felt that like a punch to the chest and slumped back. “I… I really did come for you, just for you,” he murmured, darting a glance up at Majima as he stepped through the doorway.
Majima wouldn’t meet his eyes. “That sounds like a ‘you’ problem, Kiryu-ch… Kiryu.”

“Fine, I’ll put money on it,” Majima sighed.
Saejima perked up and turned towards him. “Oh? A wager?”
Majima broke into a wide grin. “Oh yes. A thousand yen says I can make him kiss me.” His eyes sparkled.
Saejima’s eyebrows rose. “A thousand yen you can make a stranger in a pachinko shop kiss you? Alright, I’ll take that bet,” he smirked, “This oughta be funny.”

It's 1985. The Tojo Clan is negotiating an arms trade with the Omi Alliance. Kazama Shintaro is sent to Osaka on behalf of the Tojo Clan with two young men who think they want to join the family. Meanwhile, two lazy Osaka recruits are prepared to fritter their summer away until something catches one of their eyes.
It's soft, it's summer, it's fun in the sun. It will last forever. (It won't.)

Summary
Majima doesn’t understand precisely, but he thinks he gets it. The bond between Kiryu and Haruka was sacred, it was sustenance and peace for the both of them, and it transcended any earthly description. So he suspects that Kiryu must know, on some level. Majima was never terribly close to her, and even he can sense the awful splitting maw that her absence tears through the earth.
Kiryu leaves town the first moment he’s capable. He absconds with her urn and disappears in the middle of the night.

Majima took his elbows off the table and slammed it with his palm, making the beer cans and the ashtray jump, laughing maniacally.
“There's no way I'm comin' all the way out to this backwoods town without even tryin' to find my favorite dragon!”
“Speaking of that,” Kiryu said weakly, “How exactly did you find me?”
Majima's grin broadened. “Nah-ah, Kiryu-chan,” he wiggled his finger. “A guy can't go 'round revealin' his sources. Let's just say a little bird told me 'bout an apartment that the Dojima family had in Sapporo. Decided to check it out. Secured a spot in that cafe on the corner and waited for ya to show up. Honin' my detective skills.”
“So when you saw me coming,” Kiryu said slowly, trying to comprehend. “You climbed up on that roof like a cat and jumped me?”
Majima hee-hee-heed in response. “Ya gotta have that element of surprise in your life, Kiryu-chan. Otherwise, it's just plain borin’!”
Kiryu looked at him incredulously. Rumor had it that Majima was batshit crazy. He was starting to believe it.
