Summary
“Vox,” Alastor begins.
“—Okay, you know I’m starting to think—”
“What do you want?” There must be something. Ultimately, Vox has always been laughably easy. Alastor entertains throwing a stick wayward and seeing if that’s anything. He’d throw a rib, but, ha! Ha. The shadow doesn’t have any.
There’s a long expanse of silence that makes Alastor believe he’s hallucinated the entire third party after all, until:
“We need to get ya’ institutionalized, old man?” There is a pair of legs in front of him, standing at the shadows head. A solid position to crush its head under a foot. When Alastor looks up, Vox is looking down at him and his shadow, seemingly torn between where to focus. He looks notably disturbed.
“The fuck is wrong with you?” There’s a genuine quality to Vox’s tone. His eyes are wide.
Alastor seriously does not have time to explain.
Or, The one where Alastor kills his shadow.

Summary
“Oh my God, look who finally decided to pick up! I didn't know you were so busy,” Vincent drawled in a mocking tone as he continued, “You better have a good fucking excuse or you'll see what I'll do to you the next time I see you.”
And when there was no response, only silence, Vincent felt himself losing it.
“So you're gonna keep silent like some idiot?”
Again, no response.
He snorted, “Fine, suit yourself, then! It's not like you ever were anything other than an idiot, after all. Why am I even putting up with you is a fucking mystery in itself. I can't wait to find someone way smarter to replace you. I’ll do it in a fucking jiffy, I promise you this.”
More silence.
Vincent started thinking that maybe, just maybe something was wrong.
But before he could even slightly furrow his brows in concern, he heard a way too calm voice that in no way belonged to his assistant;
“What did you just say to me?”

Summary
If anyone were to ask him later what the reasons were for why he did it, he’d answer them with the following:
Number 1: he didn’t want to be at this party in the first place.
Number 2: he was drunk. Not just tipsy, but just on the side of “oh, I’ll regret everything in the morning” drunk.
Number 3: Alastor, contrary to not just popular belief but every belief (even his own), has been on the edge of snapping for a very, very long time now.
Number 4: Vox has never been able to keep his damn hands to himself.Or: it’s 2005, and Alastor is at a party that the Vee’s also happen to be at, flaunting their newest member: Velvette, overlord of fashion and social media. It’s been a long time since the 60s, but deep down, Alastor still misses his friend. And he knows they can never go back to how they were.
