Summary
He’d seen it coming. He’d known it from the beginning, some unconscious part of him recognizing the signs as they appeared before him, trying his best to find some other interpretation but always coming to the same inevitable conclusion.
He’d tried to reassure himself through the years that she loathed him just as he did. But it wasn’t until now, as the feelings of betrayal and anger washed over him like Stinksap, that he wondered whether she’d ever uttered those words at all.
Snape remembers all of the moments through the years where he suspected Lily might have fancied James back. Canon-compliant, Snape POV, set during Marauders-era Hogwarts years.

Summary
He turned to look back over his shoulder, not seeing the creeping cat on his tail, and barrelled around the last corner before the staircases.
SLAM!
The wind rushed out of him. Suddenly, he was falling, something soft landing underneath him, tangling with his legs and squeaking sharply. He rolled as he hit the ground hard, and the soft squeaking thing was pulled above him, limbs wrapped together.
James groaned, catching his breath and pushing his glasses back into place. He reoriented himself quickly, opening his eyes to see that yes, he had collided with another student, and yes, they had taken quite a big tumble together, and yes, because he was just that damned lucky and the fates really owed him for the failure of a prank that evening, it was Lily Evans lying on top of him.

Summary
Lily intended to spend one night on James's pirate ship and leave with her purse a bit heavier. Now she's stuck on board, which might be less annoying if she could figure out where they were bloody going, if half the crew didn't suspect her of sabotage, and if she weren't falling for the captain. And why on earth is his cat wearing an eye patch?

Summary
Mr. Padfoot would like to say a very enthusiastic hello to Miss Lily Evans, esteemed Gryffindor goody-two-shoes.
“Excuse me?!” Lily hisses before catching herself—there is no way she’s going to get kicked out of the library for arguing with...with a piece of parchment. She takes a calming breath and looks around. Once she’s sure nobody has heard her, she continues quietly: “what is this?”
You see, the parchment says in dainty script, Mr. Padfoot would like to inform Miss Evans that while most of the esteemed Messrs mentioned previously have absolutely no sense of forethought, he himself (the superior of them) figured that this piece of parchment would somehow make its way into her hands. This is most likely the fault of Mr. Prongs, but that’s neither here nor there.-
OR: one day early in fifth year, Lily Evans accidentally winds up in temporary possession of a piece of parchment that talks. This is Potter's fault, isn't it.- Language:

Summary
It’s May 1979 and the Order has just apprehended a pair of mysterious wizards who look remarkably like a Potter and a Malfoy. Naturally, James Potter and Sirius Black are called in to identify the strangely familiar strangers and determine their backgrounds and loyalties.
(This would be a lot easier if their captives weren’t convinced everyone they talk to is dead. It would also be easier if they didn’t spend half their bloody time bickering.)
**
“Just ask them questions only they would know the answer to,” Malfoy suggests.
“There’s not a single thing that I know about either of them from the first war that any old Death Eater couldn’t find out.”
“How is that possible?” Malfoy huffs. “He’s your father!”
“Am I or am I not famously an orphan?” Potter snarls.

Summary
"The sorrow birds find what is weak, my chest, beak-marked, my eyes long gone." - Ann V. Devilbiss
Lily Potter is dead.
No.
Lily Potter should be dead.
The cheerful little owl clock on top of the dresser hesitates, then ticks onward. The baby in the crib sucks in another eager breath, and wails anew. The dead girl on the floor- the should be dead girl on the floor- opens her eyes.
(Lily lives, but sometimes wishes she hadn’t.)

Summary
Lily remembered her sister, how there had been a time she was curious and delighted about magic, before it slowly sank in that she could look and not touch.
The last thing Petunia had said to Lily before she died was a chilly goodbye, ending a holiday dinner where they'd had a shrieking row in the entryway. Petunia had said 'freak' and Lily had hissed 'better than this, better than this being my whole fucking world, Tune, do you even see yourself, are you happy--'
And now here was Dudley Vernon Dursley fussing himself to sleep as Lily walked the halls of the Godric's Hollow house. His tiny soft hands with their tiny soft fingernails curled under her chin, the same way Harry's always had.
She passed James, who was gently bouncing his way up the hall the opposite way. "I think he's asleep," James mouthed over Harry's tousled head. His hair was the same mess, his head bent down as he peered at his sleeping son.
Lily stopped where she stood, her nephew heavy on her chest, her husband smiling, her sister buried. "James," she said. "How are we going to do this?"
