If they weren’t fishermen or soldiers, then what else would their ship be this big for? It certainly wasn’t for travelers, there definitely weren’t enough sleeping quarters for that, which was disappointing, but not as discouraging as it would have been two weeks ago. Standing in the center of the deck, Maeve felt a coil unwinding in her. She hadn’t secured a ride, but even if she died here, this was enough. Without even realizing it Maeve had put so much pressure on herself just to make it to this boat and part of her felt like she wouldn’t make it even this far. She felt the tears but didn’t let them fall, she had to hold on just a little longer. Getting on the ship wasn’t the mission, getting to Kretin was. Just as Maeve was about to go wait politely in a corner two things occurred simultaneously: she was quite harshly accosted and she realized that the ship was for pirates.
