   Gaston's whole personality is a mask he hides behind. The truth is he loves animals, is insecure and only tries to meet his father's expectations.

   Oh yeah, and he's pretty gay and would like nothing more than to be kidnapped by a strong and sexy man.

   So you might understand his jealousy, when it is his wife-to-be Belle who gets kidnapped instead.
   Quickly, he proposes an exchange. He will stay as the beast's captive, so Belle can return to her father.

   He doesn't have the purest of intentions, though.
