“Yes. Everyone’s been really kind. The structure’s a little different from where I did temp work last summer, but I’m adjusting.” Jihyo nodded quickly.
“Let us know if you need anything.” Sana said smoothly.
“I will. Thank you.”
“Cute, isn’t she?” Sana turned slightly to Momo, her voice lighter.
Jihyo’s mouth opened in a soft, confused gasp.
“Mhm.” Momo didn’t miss a beat.

“No,” Sana said, adjusting the strap on her shoulder, “It’s accurate.”
She moved to step past her, clearly signalling the conversation was over. But Jihyo moved to block her path, just a little.
Sana stopped.
“Why do you keep doing that?” Jihyo’s voice was tight.
“Doing what?”
“Dismissing me.”
Sana stared at her for a long moment. Long enough that the silence almost began to ring.
“Because you keep asking to be seen and reacting like you hate it when someone actually does.”
