“So you are Porchay,” the stranger says with a hint of exasperation, the flames still burning brightly in his palms. He stands up from the chair and starts walking around, lightning up all the candles strategically placed around the room. He’s slowly moving about, touching things and bringing them closer to his eyes to examine them. He always places each and every object back in its original spot, like it was never moved to begin with. “We’re leaving first thing tomorrow, better get yourself ready.”
“No offense, but you must be crazy if you think I’ll go anywhere with a complete stranger,” Chay says incredulously. Who does this guy think he is? “I think it’s best if you go, before I start screaming and alert everyone in the village that—”
“Alert who?” The man questions, cutting him off and heading closer to Chay. He’s on the leaner side, but his exposed arms show off his muscular biceps. It makes Chay gulp, the fear coming back. “All the elderly women that stayed here? The children?”
