    Drenched in blood and scared out of his mind is not how Lan Wangji imagined proposing marriage to Wei Ying, especially after searching for him for three months, but when he finally lays his eyes upon him — changed, obviously unwell, surrounded by the miasma of resentment, yet still so beautiful — the words “marry me, Wei Ying” just slip out.

    Standing atop a blood-soaked pile of miscellaneous body parts and Wen robes, Wei Ying’s head snaps around to him, incredulity lighting his eyes up almost as much as the red glow from the resentful energy he manipulates.

    “...I beg your pardon?” Wei Ying’s voice is different; what was once melodious now rings hollow. Lan Wangji feels a deep, primal need to fix it.

    “Please, Wei Ying.” Lan Zhan implores with all the conviction he can summon. “Marry me.”

    Or, a world where instead of saying "come back to Gusu with me," Lan Wangji says "Marry me."

    But…after all this time, after everything…

    Or: Wei Ying had been openly declaring his love for Lan Zhan ever since they met at The Cloud Recesses. Confused and emotionally constipated, Lan Zhan rejected him, until everything went wrong, until he lost Wei Ying in the end. 13 years later, Wei Ying cannot trust Lan Zhan with his heart.
