Summary

The cut isn't deep, but it bleeds. Majima hears Kiryu's hiss of pain but it means very little to him at the moment. Kiryu is strength personified, he's alive, he's here. And he's going to relish whatever Majima dishes out for him.

The gritty sound of snow crunching underfoot advances on Kiryu until Majima is a hair’s breadth away, looming oppressively at his back. He catches Kiryu’s elbow in a forceful grip, breaking his stride, and declares:
“You ‘n me are havin’ a little sidebar. Now.”
Encircled by the saline-sting of oceanside air, Kiryu and Majima have a much-needed heart to heart in a desolate fishing village.

He'd very well invited him to do this, but he always extended these invitations and he was never let down--continually surprised by Kiryu's dogged willingness to see things through despite what it may mean for him. Majima was in a dress and a wig, The Dragon of Dojima was stroking his leg, could at any moment fix his hands around him and take advantage of the vulnerability of the situation to throw him across the room, could slam his head forward into his chest and knock his breath away, and now his hand was stopped at his knee, thumb dug into the skin just leading up to his inner thigh. The night was always funny in what it could offer. In the quiet of the booth, Majima could hear the champagne fizzing and dying out on the table.
"Okay," Kiryu murmured, gaze unchanged spare for his blinking. "It's softer than I thought."

Tonight, Majima’s working on the last basket of takoyaki when he glances up to see his cigarette dangling from Kiryu’s mouth. Kiryu doesn’t acknowledge that he took it, just tilts his head and flicks on a thick gold lighter. The flame is high, light kissing the hollows of his chest in the vee of his open collar; when it flicks out, he drops the lighter back on the table and inhales. Majima stabs a toothpick through crust.

"Kiryu-san has been seen walking around with a kid. A little girl." Nishida grabbed his phone from his pocket and pulled up a picture on it. Even with the low resolution, you could see that it was definitely Kiryu and a small child.
"Who the hell does she belong to?" Majima wondered aloud.
"No one knows but a couple of the guys said he's looking for a woman named Yumi. Maybe it's her kid."
A hammer fell on Majima's restraint.
"You sayin' Kiryu-chan's got a girlfriend?!" He screeched.
