Summary
It's week before the wedding of Eloise Bridgerton and Phillip Crane. Guests flock to Number 5 for a wedding shower full of love, greenery, and champagne.
It is here where best man Colin Bridgerton makes a stupid declaration: that never, in his wildest dreams, would he ever be anything more than friends with his best friend and the maid of honor, Penelope Featherington.
What he doesn’t know, though, is that she hears this firm proclamation.
That, now, he must navigate an uncomfortable new chapter of their friendship before their friends’ nuptials.
That his statement may not accurately capture his true feelings for his best friend.
And that his dreams can get pretty wild. Fantastical, even.

Summary
After spending years scouring apps and enduring lackluster dates, Penelope is at a dead end in her quest for romance. The Bridgerton family, upon hearing this, concocts a bet to see which sibling can set her up on the best blind date. Penelope accepts, nervous at the prospect of her best friend and lifelong love, Colin, setting her up after coming home permanently from his travels.
The winner, determined by who Penelope believes her best date to be with, receives the mallet of death for a full year.
The loser? Potentially the man who didn't realize he was in love with her in the first place.
