Anne is your best friend in the universe. With bright and stary eyes- her stories implant themselves in your brain and it's quite hard to get them out. So much so that you can't help but go to Gilbert and ask him what Anne had meant and if what she said is true. Gilbert is not sure he wants to have that conversation or even if he's ready. Bash is laughing at the whole situation when Gilbert hesitantly tells him.
OR
Gilbert struggles to be a gentleman when you're being obliviously forward in your advances and asking him to describe to you why he should stop and what happens if he doesn't.
P.S. He eventually gives up.
