My favourite characters tend to be on the autism spectrum, or can be written that way.
Many of my fics from my old major fandoms (B7, HP) have been canonically Jossed, mainly because canon has a tendency to kill off my favourite characters (Avon and Severus Snape)
I often like to write obnoxious Brits with a vicious sense of humour. I always write characters who mysteriously end up being loved by somebody without having to deserve it.
After those fandoms I have been involved in JS&MN (Jonathan Strange &. Mr Norrell as done by Susanna Clarke's novel and the BBC): not so much Jossed by killing off my favourite character, as by the narrative voice and both fannish pairings and literary fashion disdaining my favourite character (Gilbert Norrell: flawed little nerd)...
My strengths are dialogue, comedy, whimsy, and sex as plot/characterisation. I don't seem to find myself writing gen, angst (much), or complicated plot, although I can enjoy reading those.
