Summary
In Chapter 63, "The first shall bury his heart in a dark wood beneath the snow, yet still feel its ache," there is a description of Mr Norrell trying repeatedly to spy on Mr Strange using the magic of his basin. He fails repeatedly until he sees a magician doing magic--and realizes that the magician is himself. Here the two magicians are in the Darkness, and Mr Norrell describes this strange event to Mr Strange. They speculate on what it might mean.
In response to Predatrix requesting a fic for her birthday. This is short and unfortunately contains no smut. It was something I dashed off long ago and kept vaguely thinking of posting. I've worked it up a bit, and here it is. I hope she enjoys it!

Summary
Shortly after Mr Norrell becomes a celebrated magician in London, he gives a large Christmas Eve dinner and dancing party. A number of ladies bring their marriageable daughters in the hopes of snaring the rich magician as a son-in-law. To Mr Norrell's surprise, two of the young ladies are quite charming and very eager to talk and dance with him, but to his relief they are more romantically interested in each other than in him. After the party ends, Childermass teazes Mr Norrell about all this, and they retire to bed for more private and pleasant activities.
