Summary
When Yuuta rescues a strange boy bleeding in the snow, little does he know that his life is about to change forever.
He can’t look away.
Inumaki had killed this thing with his voice.
“It’s a… monster,” Yuuta whispers, wide-eyed. As the nightmare fish disappears into the ether, Yuuta turns his stunned gaze back to the wounded boy by the slide. Inumaki looks exhausted but his eyes carry a sort of empathetic sadness, as if he’s sorry he’s exposed Yuuta to such a thing. “It was going to… hurt me.”
Toge nods, clutching the water bottle Yuuta had given him.
“And you have… powers.” It feels like a strange word to say, unreal.
Toge nods again, almost hesitantly, but Yuuta’s panic is transforming into excitement as he puts the pieces together, eyes shining in amazement as he stares at the other boy. It all makes sense now.
“Inumaki, you’re a superhero.”

Summary
Maki's completely mistaken. There’s nothing overly possessive in how Yuuta treats Toge. He's protective of all his friends, Maki included. If Toge receives a little special attention, well, it’s only natural. They’re third year students now—they pretty much only fight the highest level curses—which means Toge’s throat weathers a lot more backlash. If Yuuta’s always quick to heal him afterwards, it’s only because it hurts Yuuta to see him in pain.
Yeah, that's all.
He's totally normal about this.

Summary
3 times Rika "helps" Yuuta get what he needs, and 1 time she doesn't have to.
“Yuuuuuta! Rika heeeeelps!”
And that’s when he sees it.
Under Rika’s left arm is Toge, her clawed hand wrapped around his middle so that the boy’s legs and arms dangle in mid-air. He’s so small next to Rika’s bulky form that he looks like a small kitten in her grasp, soft from sleep, his hair a mess, lavender eyes drooping.
Toge’s in his pajamas, face bare and sigils dark against his fair skin. He blinks at Yuuta, still hanging limply from Rika’s grasp, and raises a hand to wave at him idly.
“Konbu,” he mumbles, yawning.
