Summary
Arthur keeps it together.
It’s what he’s good at, what he has to be good at— he is a private investigator, after all. Sure, maybe Arthur had never gotten perfect at it, and his emotions still tend to leak through the seams on even his best days.
But he had gotten pretty damn good, if he says so himself. Fuck whatever John’s exasperated sighs and reprimands said— Arthur knows how to control his emotions. Or, at least, he knows how to throw a convincing enough façade on them to make it appear as though he can control his emotions. (Surely that’s the same thing, right?)
Either way, Arthur is completely certain that he can control himself.

Summary
Arthur and Parker are struggling private investigators in beautiful, terrible Arkham. A mysterious, immensely wealthy man who introduces himself as Iscariot has a case that they can't refuse. John, his violent son who has strewn a pile of corpses in his wake, has kidnapped his brother Yellow. Iscariot fears that John may act against Yellow if they make a move. Arthur and Parker's mission? To go undercover at the local middle-school and keep a careful eye on the duo.
John and Yellow are newcomers to Arkham. Being a god fragment and burdened by destiny would be difficult for anyone, but to make matters worse, Yellow is also twelve. John is desperate not only to blend into human society, but also to keep Yellow safe - and happy - and loved.
And nobody will stop him.

Summary
“Are you going to kill me now?” his Arthur asks, shocking them both into another moment of tense, breathless apprehension. The question lingers in the air, Arthur’s hand remains inside that bag, and John’s eyes remain fixed on the other’s face. The other Arthur meets them with just about the same indifference he always has. Until at last, his eyes shift over to their bag as well.
“Are you?” he asks, and John can feel the way his friend’s fingers tighten around the cool metal of that gun, itching for that trigger, contemplating the question. It really would be so easy for him, wouldn’t it? To pull it out of that bag and aim it at his chest, knowing that John would not dare try to stop him, even if he wants to.

An alternate version of "The Fire" where John and Arthur meet Darkthur instead of Malam. Testing John's loyalty and devotion while asking Arthur the question of all questions. Does he deserve to die?

“I was-” Arthur cuts himself off with a scowl. Those eyes were still staring straight at him, piercing and golden. The ringing clarifies to something, actual words although they weren’t in Arthur’s voice - in the Order of the Fallen Star Headquarters-
“Order of the Fallen Star?” Jon repeats with confusion, and he can see Arthur freeze. The mysterious second voice stops, along with the faint buzz at the back of his mind.
He feels distinctly as if he’s made a mistake.
