    Summary

Be it you, who will disappear someday,

Or be it me, who will disappear someday,

In this life, we live with high expectations. To be together, a pair of two. Is that what we all wish for?

The cloak of the Index was white. Blood was a deep gray. Flesh, a pale gray. And the sky was utterly black.

In that case, red was the only hue vast enough to contain our madness.

    Summary

    Damn. Damn.

He couldn’t endure it anymore. Just as he was about to pin the bloodfiend down and devour him outright, a gentle index finger pressed against his lips.

    “Lie still, Rien. Be good.

The amber eyes of the white-haired proxy narrowed. His teeth clenched faintly, veins rising along his skin. Yet in the end, he did not move.

“Whatever you want, darling.” He rasped.

Like a leashed dog finally feeling the tug of the collar. Resistance wasn’t an option when the hand on the other end belonged to a certain someone else.

    Can bloodfiends get drunk?

    An intriguing question, indeed.

    Summary

At first glance they were ordinary roses, but between the velvet layers of each petal, tiny glints of light flickered…eyes, countless watchful eyes, peering out.

    Gazes he found terribly familiar.

Those were eyes gleaming with boundless yearning, no different from the gazes of his long-dead family when they thirsted for blood.

They did not crave slaughter, nor did they wish to harm.

Those creatures… merely longed for the taste of blood.

His fingers brushed the velvety petal of a rose.

    Roses truly suited bloodfiends.

Five times Don Quixote thought of leaving the web that bound him.

And one time he decided to stay.

    Summary

Given that Prescripts were created from the day-to-day of City citizens, the Prescripts of the Index were thought to be generated from the people’s wish for a direction in life, following the ‘Will of the City’ itself…

He looked down at it again, the corner of his lips curving faintly upward.

So this absurdly specific prescript might exist because of his own desire? Did he want it that badly? The odds were vanishingly small, yet not impossible. Still, in the end, it hardly mattered.

    He almost… liked this one.

‘To Rien, fuck a bloodfiend. Deadline irrelevant.’

What a truly splendid day it was when one’s beloved was a First Kindred.

    Summary

Warmth. Pure, enveloping warmth. He listened as his darling continued, words tumbling forth in that eager, antiquated cadence. He wanted more. He wanted to keep hearing that voice forever.

At that moment, Rien almost found himself wishing how wonderful it would be if a prescript were to appear, one that demanded he keep Don Quixote by his side for the rest of his life. He nearly entertained the thought of holding the man there by his own hand, binding him forever within the spiderweb he so carefully spun.

Pick up a knife and stab a familiar warm body.

Ah… how utterly vile he was.

    Summary

In one hand, he still clutched a whisk. On the floor sat a mixing bowl filled with ith a suspicious concoction that looked vaguely like batter. His gaze shifted to the oven, where the charred remains of the ghost's latest culinary disaster smoldered in silence. It was clear that this wasn’t the first time he had danced with disaster in the kitchen.

Noticing how long Mydei had been forced to look up, Phainon was worried he'd strain his neck, so he immediately dropped down onto the floor. Like a child caught red-handed in the middle of a crime scene.

    "…Me try cook."

    Phainon confessed, utterly dejected.

Another fun fact? This ghost couldn't speak properly.

Phainon could only manage broken, fragmented words, never a complete sentence. However, it was enough for Mydei to piece together what he meant.

    Summary

Wise coughed, his mind finally descending from the dizzying heights of thirteen premium membership packages and the staggering sum promised. He brushed aside the curious detail that Section One, with only twelve members, had requested thirteen packages. More was better, right? No need to overthink it.

“Let’s save the thanks for when the job’s done,” he said, his tone steadying as he regained his focus. “For now, tell us, what’s the objective here?”

So far, Elysia had only revealed their destination: Hollow Zero. What they intended to do there remained a tantalizing mystery. The Phaethons knew better than to assume this was a simple mission to suppress and eliminate Ethereals. Section One wouldn’t need the Proxies for something so straightforward.

Her gaze suddenly drifted, growing distant.

    “We need to find...Kevin.

-You low-key don't need ZZZ's lore to understand this work.

-This work is basically the Flame-Chasers and the Chrysos Heirs bonding with themselves and other factions in modern settings. (They got reincarnated, and their original stories were still intact).

-The Chrysos Heirs would be introduced quite later.

    Summary

The boy appeared no older than seven. His slight frame was draped in tattered rags, wrists and ankles bound with white bandages, sloppily applied. His sunset-hued hair hung in drenched, tangled clumps, saturated by the river's chill.

Though he floated like a lifeless husk, his amber eyes remained wide open. Hauntingly vacant yet piercing, devoid of light, mirroring the hollow gaze of the Kaslana himself.

Here, two souls long dead in spirit crossed paths.

Kevin Kaslana stood and stared, then stared some more.

His expression unchanging, he reached down with a gloved hand, unhurried, lifting the child by the scruff as if he was handling a drenched sodden feline.

    Summary

Kalpas couldn't sleep. Instead, he cracked open his green eyes to stare at the blank desk calendar nearby, unmarked and indifferent. His mask rested there too. Only because this was Kevin’s room had he allowed himself to unstrap it, otherwise, he never would.

A sour thought twisted his face.

Kalpas’ heats came with clockwork regularity, every two or three months, on the exact same day.

…Did that bastard not remember his cycle?

    Summary

The ash-haired man remembered Elysia saying Kevin had gone nearly a week without food or water. And Kalpas… Kalpas remembered Aponia once sending him to force the stubborn, half-dead youths of Sundown Alley to eat.

Experience, it seemed, had a way of coming back.

Before the two mightiest of the Thirteen Flame-Chasers could even catch their breath, Kalpas dropped another bombshell.

Still wearing a pale pink apron stamped with the deep crimson sigil of Decimation, he simply sat down on Kevin's lap.

Under Elysia’s wide-eyed stare, he showed no trace of embarrassment, as if this brazen act were the most natural thing in the world. Perhaps his mind, warped by fire and fury, genuinely saw nothing odd in it.

His gloved, fingerless hand seized the now-cold bowl of ramen, while the other clutched a fresh pair of chopsticks.

“Eat, you’re not leaving until every last bite is gone.”

For the first time in history, the Sixth Flame-Chaser silenced the top two ranks of the Thirteen, leaving both of them speechless.

    Summary

His hands pressed against the glass near their temples, framing them. Nanook’s platinum hair spilled across the cold surface, their braids fanning out in disarray, their bare chest laid bare before Khaslana’s ravenous gaze.

The Emanator of Destruction, Irontomb, beheld Nanook, Aeon of Destruction, as if glimpsing a forbidden marvel for the first time, like a Victorian suitor beholding a lady’s ankle.

“My queen,” he breathed, voice thick with devotion. “Grant me Destruction, and I shall drag Erudition to its knees for You.”

Yes, Khaslana was mad, gloriously, irrevocably mad.

    “…”

Nanook remained silent, an enigma of stillness. Then, they stirred, their arms encircling Khaslana’s neck with a delicate grace.

It was the first act they offered him. Khaslana would replay this moment a hundred, a thousand, a billion times in his simulations.

    Summary

Dr. Su considered warning him about the perils of eating so much ice cream, but one look at Kalpas’ stormy, brooding demeanor silenced any urge to intervene.

On yet another occasion, someone spotted him crawling into the communal freezer where provisions were stored…

To put it plainly, the masked, gray-haired had a problem.

And that problem gnawed at him relentlessly. Failing to resolve it drove him to the brink, unleashing his fury on simulated enemies in the MANTIS training grounds. It kept him awake at night, and no amount of morning rampages could quell it.

Kalpas was convinced he’d die if he didn’t sort this out.

The source of his torment had a name: Kevin.

    Summary

It seemed that he had failed to dig his own grave. Or perhaps the realm of the dead had simply turned its back on a sinner like him.

The Kaslana wasn’t surprised. He had lived too long to still 'feel' anything. Everything was distant, muddled, clouded.

The white-haired man sat up slowly, his first instinct leading his gaze to the mirror fixed atop the dresser in the corner of the room. He was shirtless. The body he now inhabited or whoever this man had been...was eerily similar to his own from his previous life.
