"Alright, ready to start?" asked the interviewer.
"I am," she responded, "and just so we're on the same page, the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?"
"So help you God," the interviewer quipped.
She took a deep breath. The story of her and Michael's life together was one that was long and complex. One that she wasn't sure the interviewer, or the world for that matter was ready to hear, but she knew it needed to be told nonetheless.
"Well," she began, wondering how she was going to fit three decades of history between her and her late husband into a single interview, "I met Michael in the spring of 1976, so let's start from there."

Summary
Michael can't sleep.
A convenience store worker on the night shift can't seem to get rid of him.
Night after night, one conversation turns into another. Then another. Soon they're sharing meals at dawn, ignoring the tension growing between them, and pretending they're only there for the company.
Neither of them is looking for a relationship.
That's probably the first problem.

Summary
You and Jaafar have been close friends since your early Uni days. You met at a random party in LA and just clicked. He has been an active part of your life since then - your friendship is solid and genuine.
You are now in a MFA program for creative writing and Jaafar has wrapped up his first big movie, Michael, and is now using his freetime to get back to his personal life. While he is done with PR requirements and promoting the movie, you are working on your thesis (a novel manuscript).
Jaafar figures in order for your thesis to be better, you need to approach it with more field experience.
