Summary
The Vode, as the clone soldiers call themselves, were told they were born for the republic. To live and die in it's defense, and maybe, just maybe if they fought long and hard and won the war, they would get to see freedom on the other side. Instead they were ended up as nothing but meat droids to the people they were dying to protect. Eventually turned into living puppets by the Sith themselves, force to gun down the only ones who had cared for them, who cared about them as individuals with humanity. So when they wake up in the past, finally given a chance to choose their own future for themselves for once, they say 'Kriff the republic' and run away, taking the Jedi with them.

Summary
Tony Stark dies in Siberia of a broken heart, both literally and figuratively.
Now, with earth is in ruins from the war with Thanos, and far too late does Steve Rodgers know the truth and the number and depth of his mistakes. He knows he owes Tony Stark a thousand apologies.
So when he gets the chance to fix Everything, He takes it.
