“She had to get out of this maze or she’d die. The shaft was not a help to her. She couldn’t fit through it and didn’t want to slide down a pipe full of spiders into a basement whose access point was just as unknown to her as the exit to this maze. She had to keep moving.”
An AU in which Ana CAN fit through the vent into the basement, she doesn’t mind the spiders and she does not, in fact, keep moving. You’d be surprised how much it changes.
