Summary
Roisin Sullivan is an immigrant, working for a family in London because that's the only job she can get. She came to London because her family needed the money, the family she's working for came a century or so ago for basically the same reasons and now is focused on getting ahead.
Is this the world of today, where desperate immigrants cross oceans in leaky boats? No, it's nineteenth century London. We're still playing the same games though, and putting up with the same savage inequalities. Only the cast of characters have changed. There are always reasons why people who are different can't have the same opportunities.
In this installment, Roisin (called Lucy, because her Irish name is too foreign) gets some bad news.

Summary
I wanted two things: A character for the Dickens Christmas Fair who could sing, and to explore the history of the Irish in London around 1850. This immersive approach to history blends research and what I can only describe as an intentional creation of an imaginary friend. It's also one of the geekiest ways to share history that I know.
Lucy Sullivan wanted a few things too. I put her in a dress I'd made for my tart character, because that was what I had. The first thing she asked me to do was let down the hem so her ankles were covered. She also wanted her real name back. By the end of that year, I had a living alter ego with a story that had a beginning, middle and end. For her it will always be that one year between 1847 and 1850 when she lost her job in service, her family, and emigrated to America.

Summary
The sun has slipped low in the sky, the first blood of sunset darkening the horizon, when Jack at last reaches across to her. He rests his hand on her forearm, a steadying anchor.
“You can stop,” he says. His voice is deeper than usual, rough with aftershocks yet steady as ever. “We can stop. We’re four clicks off the road now, and there’s been no sign of pursuit.”
Furiosa shakes her head. Her foot stays heavy on the pedal, her hands clawed tight around the wheel. There is nothing to do but drive, drive, and keep driving. To do anything else would be folly. A death wish. If she stops, it might all catch up to her.

Bookmarker's Notes
There used to be a model of the Roman Forum at the top of the SF State library. I used to go there often, wishing I could get small enough to walk around inside it. A historically accurate fanfic involving time travel and Kirk caught in Rome? Sign me up!

Summary
This, whatever it is, cannot be real.
Because this, this workshop, this house, JARVIS being whole and capable of answering him, this body Tony is currently in?
None of it is supposed to exist anymore.
All of it is very firmly meant to be about twenty or so years in Tony’s past.

Summary
"What could I want so desperately that would make me sell my soul? What could possibly compel me to surrender the part of myself that makes me who I am: the source of my magic, my self-control, everything?"
Magic has been a part of Sherlock's life for as long as he can remember. Most people view his abilities with suspicion, their own power pale in comparison to what he can do. Jealous rumours dog his footsteps: accusations that he sold his soul in exchange for his talents.
Then John Watson enters his life, all ease and acceptance, and Sherlock will do anything – will pay any price – to ensure nothing brings him to harm.
