Katsuki jumped from agency to agency, avoiding Deku like the plague. Professionally speaking, he knew this wasn’t sustainable. They were ‘The Wonder Duo,’ after all. They were expected to work together for a reason; because their Quirks and fighting styles were a good match-up. But Katsuki didn’t see how he could do it, anymore.“Hey man, you look beat!” Kirishima exclaimed when he showed up to work at Fat Gum’s a few days later. Kirishima’s upbeat tone was completely disharmonious with his words.
“Thanks a lot,” Katsuki grumbled.
“Hey, I don’t mean it like that! But when was the last time you had a day off?”
“I don’t want any days off.”

Deku’s bedroom’s about the same as Katsuki imagined it. He perches on the edge of the absurdly soft bed, trying not to think about Aunty Inko staring at him like he had two heads. "Why’d you come, Kacchan? Is everything okay?”
“I’m sorry,” Katsuki says without preamble. Just like he rehearsed on the way over here. “I’ve been an asshole for most of our lives and you didn’t deserve that.”
“I, uhm –”
“You’re way too fucking sweet for your own good. You should have kicked me out instead of letting me in your room. You shouldn’t have –” kissed me, he doesn’t say. “Been nice to me after I was a jerk. I shouldn’t have been a jerk. I never even noticed how much I liked having you around until I left.”
“You liked having me around?” Deku asks, expression going soft. Katsuki rubs his sweaty hands on his jeans. Slowly, Deku scoots forward in his chair until their knees almost touch. “Is that why you started talking to me again, Kacchan? I wondered if maybe you were just bored but I thought – I’d hoped maybe you finally wanted to be friends.”
Katsuki’s chest clenches. “I did. I do.”
(Katsuki moves to Tokyo after middle school. Izuku, against all odds, ends up going with him.)

Summary
