He trails off, tugging at the collar of his t-shirt. When he looks back over at Jeremiah he sees that his pupils are blown wide and he thinks that his own probably look the same. There’s no space between them again, just the low hum of other people’s conversations and the heat buzzing around them and that feeling that he’s not allowed to forget bubbling to the surface of everything.
Or: It's summer and Steven and Jeremiah are both interning in the city. They can't stop sharing space, or anything else really. It's only the beginning for them.
