    Une chasse nocturne se passe mal et Wei Wuxian devient le bouc émissaire pour la mort du leader de la secte Jiang et pour la destruction du noyau spirituel de l’héritier de la secte Jiang. Comme punition, son noyau spirituel lui est enlevé et donné à Jiang Cheng, il est déchu de ses titres de cultivation et expulsé de la secte.

    Ce que tout le monde oublie est que Wei Wuxian portait une des caméras d’intervention que chaque cultivateur porte pendant les missions d’entraînement et les chasses nocturnes à haut risque. Luttant pour joindre les deux bouts, Wei Wuxian se retrouve à Caiyi Town avec le médecin qui a réalisé l’intervention chirurgicale et un noyau spirituel partiel encore secrètement en place. Sa candidature pour travailler à Cloud Recesses est rejetée sommairement par le Second Jade des Lan à la peau dure, après une regrettable première rencontre.

    Mais les choses changent quand quelqu’un hacke le système des Jiang et publie l’enregistrement de ce qui s’est passé.

    Jin Guangshan uses an array to show everyone exactly what the Yiling Patriarch is getting up to in the Burial Mounds. Finally, everyone will get to see the deadly Wen army that he is amassing there.

    Instead, all they see is a group of old people, an overly friendly fierce corpse, an adorable child, and the supposedly evil Yiling Patriarch, who is too busy being a protector and father to actually do anything evil.

    (No, things definitely aren't going to plan).

    The Great Dragon leans a little closer, regarding him with curiosity. “Wei Wuxian, you are our final hope.”

    Wei Wuxian has to pinch himself again. “That doesn’t make any…”

    “Your destiny has been written in the stars for eons. You will bring peace and prosperity to our wretched land. This is your fate, Wei Wuxian."

    “Oh…” Wei Wuxian sucks in a breath through his teeth. “Uh, maybe you have the wrong guy?”

    The dragon speaks calmly. “That is not possible."

    When Wei Wuxian leaves his home and comes to Gusu, it’s with every intention of starting a fresh, new, quiet life. But that quickly flies out the window when he finds out he’s—supposedly—meant to fulfil a grand destiny and change the whole world for the better. On top of that, he’s meant to do this alongside the esteemed Prince Wangji of Gusu. Sounds good, doesn’t it? Except for the fact that:

    1. The use of magic is strictly forbidden in the kingdom
    2. He’s a sorcerer

    What could possibly go wrong?
