Spider-Man: Brand New Day !spoilers! ahead, mostly for the ending.
If Jean Grey hadn't ran away, and stayed with Peter instead. In other words, Peter is slowly figuring out how to live in the present while helping a fellow troubled mutant do the same.
Peter laid back down properly, a sigh of relief escaping him. Jean was away, she was safe. It was good news for him, even if it would probably cause some problems for him later with DeWolff. But as long as she was out of Damage Control's hand's, it was enough for him to feel fine. "Okay.. that's good." Then he heard the bit about her keeping him alive. He didn't doubt that. His senses had felt every bit of those last moments, and he'd felt the second his body had shut down. But something had taken his place, had let their heart beat and lungs expand for him. A smile appeared on his face as he realized that Jean had done that for him. "She isn't as bad as she seemed." He claimed after a second, looking at Frank from his position on the bed. "Some guidance, that's all she needs." And he hoped that she could find it, wherever it was that she'd gone.
