Summary
“You could,” Mando turns and locks eyes with her from behind his helmet, “but I have extra rations and a warm fire.” His suspicions are confirmed as the girl’s defiance melts away. Mando studies her for a second. He knows she’s an adult, but here, shoulders turned inwards, dirty, and stomach quietly growling, she looks like a kid. “Until you hear me out, I won’t let anyone else near you. You have my word.” He turns, trying to ignore the confusion that flashed across the girl’s face, and starts walking back to his sleeping foundling.
Apprehensive footsteps follow behind him with a statement muttered under her breath “Not like a Mandalorian’s word is worth anything.” It’s said as an accident, for her ears only. A thought that bubbled to the surface, so he pretends the words never reached his helmet.
