Summary
They were always gonna end up beaten and bruised, with one of them in handcuffs and the other wide-eyed and terrified whilst they could do nothing but watch. Mike’s just surprised it’s happened so soon, all things considered, that the cops have finally come to take him away after almost two years of Harvey and him getting away with fraud.
They were always gonna end up here, and Mike’s just unlucky that he’s the one in handcuffs.

Summary
It’s not like Mike wanted to be put into witness protection.
Just because he’d been in the wrong place at the wrong time and witnessed an apparent assassination attempt on the district attorney of New York didn’t mean his life was at risk, too. Just because he’d been called to testify at the trial a month later didn’t mean the sniper’s buddies would target him, too.
Except then they did, and then he was, indeed, almost collateral damage.

Mike gets pushed into witness protection, looked after by guards employed by Pearson Security. But some of the guards are fucking assholes, so this is going to be a long goddamn month.

Harvey shrugs. "I don't make the rules, kid. So, unless you've somehow got a Harvard Law degree shoved in that pocket with your joint, you should see yourself out."
Mike looks up at him with a smirk on his face. "Does NYU Law work?"
It's not illegal, what they're doing, which makes sense, because he doesn't exactly expect one of New York City's best lawyers to stick his entire career on the line for a man he didn't know existed all of fifteen minutes prior, but it's still exhilarating. Mike's got nothing to lose. Harvey doesn't know what luck he's down on, or the helping hand he's just extended to a veteran who hasn't held a stable job in five years.

Harvey frowned and put his glass back on the table. “And why would I freak out?”
“That’s what I’m saying, there’s no need to freak out. But you might. So I wanted to preface this by telling you, you don’t need to.”
“Mike.”
“Okay.” Mike put his glass down and turned in his chair, facing Harvey dead on. He grabbed Harvey’s hand where it was resting on the table and held it between both of his.
Harvey’s eyes widened. “Mike. I’m starting to freak out already. Just tell me.”
