    Summary

All the signs had been there, it had been right there to see and accept, but he’d foolishly clung on to hope. Or rather, to denial.

    I can’t feel them.

The words had left his son’s mouth, and there was no going back.

Neteyam gets shot in the spine instead of the chest. Old wounds reopen, family dynamics change and romance blooms.

    Summary

Neteyam lives, but the ocean doesn’t give life back without scars. Haunted by the moment he almost didn’t return, he struggles beneath the weight of guilt, expectation, and the silence that follows survival. When sleep won’t come and the tide threatens to pull him under, it’s unexpectedly Ao’nung who stays beside him—loud, stubborn, infuriating… and the only one who refuses to treat him like something fragile.

    Summary

In the wake of his father's relentless drills and the crushing guilt of failing to watch Lo'ak, Neteyam finds himself unable to breathe—even on land. Seeking a moment of silence away from the constant title of Mighty Omaticaya Warrior, he retreats to the moonlit reefs of Awa'atlu. Expecting solitude, he instead encounters Ao'nung. In a rare moment of vulnerability, the mask of the perfect son slips, and Ao'nung sees the drowning boy beneath the warrior's skin. Through a wordless journey beneath the waves, Ao'nung teaches Neteyam that he doesn't have to swim against the current alone; sometimes, the only way to find peace is to let someone else be your anchor.

I'm at the helm, but you're my anchor. Inspired by the ethereal sounds of Novo Amor and the quiet beauty of the Metkayina reefs at night. This is my take on Neteyam finding his peace in the water with Ao'nun
