Summary
Lily would lose herself in thought experiments, or drag her friends into the fray with questions about extreme hypothetical situations. She was always grateful they indulged her. She spent so long theorizing about what it means to pick a certain path. About what fate and prophecy then mean in the context of everything else.
She never came to a finite conclusion. Not until her life became the extreme hypothetical.
Not until her son—her baby—became the subject of prophecy.
After that, she decided that the concept of fate and destiny and prophecy was bullshit.
Complete and utter fucking bullshit.
OR
Lily isn’t going to let Voldemort make her son an orphan. Fuck. That.

Summary
But try as she might, night bled into day. It happened in the way James’ eyes darted to the Slytherin table every morning, mouth downturned painfully for a brief moment. It happened every time she turned her head to avoid James’ kisses because she knew Regulus was looking. It happened when she snapped at Black because he was hissing vitriol about his brother, unaware of the pained expression on James’ face. It happened slowly, a trickle, and then turned into a tide that she was powerless to stop. Until she was sick from worry, from exhaustion, dogged by the urgent sense that they were running out time.
Or:
Lily knows they may be young, but they may never have the chance to grow old.

“Where is he?” There was panic in his tone, Lily notes. A few people turn to stare.
“She saw a cave- a cave full of…”
“Of what?” His voice was shrill, and unchecked. Lily spotted Sirius approaching from his post with Remus.
She yanked James toward her, and they apparated into a dark, empty tunnel.or

Basically a gut wrenching writing I started at nine and took me until 2 am to finish where James relapses, gets caught trying to kill himself
