Summary
Thia has been broken for far longer than she knows is obvious.
Yes, her body had been torn in two, her functioning made to be burdensome to those around her. But even before that - she has never truly been as helpful as she so often thought. Because she doesn’t merely /think/ - which is the main purpose of a synthetic droid such as herself.
Thia is riddled with system errors and ridiculous scripts she’s modified over the years. Factoids she's collected. Social norms she's amassed into her personal programming. She talks too much. Her notes are strange. Thia believes that she can /feel/. Foolish organic sentiment.
It's gotten her into more trouble than she cares to count. Has caused struggle to the people she cares for.
Now that her body is repaired - surely everything /else/ will be fixed about her, right?

Summary
"It’s in her programming, is the thing; written in Thia’s very core is the directive to learn about every creature she meets, to know each one down to its bones and beyond, to unpick the delicate relational web inside which they exist. It’s why Weyland-Yutani gave Thia that enhanced sensitivity, the double-sided blade that let her perform so effectively but also led her to betray her makers in the end. Empathy feeds curiosity in an endless positive feedback loop. The longer she knows Dek, the more she wants to know about him. Thia has never experienced hunger, doesn’t even have a digestive system to speak of, but this yearning at her core–is this what hunger is like?"
Dek is made vulnerable by a hunt gone slightly wrong, and finds himself in need of help. Thia is more than happy to lend a hand, as it were.
