Loki's mouth formed into a thin line, nodding, “Agent Barton is retelling the story of 2012, then?” He asks, simply out of politeness. Stephen nods, and Stark grins.
“Ahh reindeer games, I remember you so well back then! Young, greasy, and evil!”
Loki just nods. What else is he meant to do? “It was a… challenging point in my life.”
OR
Post-Endgame (except I let everyone live and be happy) it is revealed that Loki was not entirely himself during the events of the first Avengers movie. Just a quick idea on how that could have gone down.

God, Rogue felt sick with herself.
She avoided eye contact with her gloved hands, for fear that if she took even a peak, she would see blood.
Dark red, oozing, staining blood.
A mixture of Remy’s and Erik’s, and every mutant who had died. Rogue wished she had a shoulder to cry on, someone who would hold her and tell her it would all be okay. Calming, dark eyes to look into, to crinkle at the corners with a grin.Oh, Remy.

Canon divergence after episode 5 of X-Men 97Remy comes back on Genosha after his heroic sacrifice, but not quite the same as how he left. The X-Men will have to continue the fight against Bastion and Sinister, while at the same time unravel the mystery and traumas of their resident thief, hoping they can get him back to how he's supposed to be.
